Yes — a valid US passport book is required to fly to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Unlike the land border crossing from California, air travel to Mexico requires a passport book. A passport card is not sufficient for air travel. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates (September 2026), as this is a standard international travel requirement. If your passport expires before March 2027, begin the renewal process as soon as possible.

Yes — Cabo San Lucas is one of Mexico’s most visited and well-established resort destinations, welcoming millions of international visitors each year. The Los Cabos corridor (which includes Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo) is recognized as a secure tourism zone with a strong international presence and professional tourism infrastructure.

Country Splash has a dedicated security team on-site throughout the festival and at all hotel and villa properties. Your safety is our first priority at every touchpoint.

What safety measures does Country Splash have on-site?

Guest safety is a core part of how we design the Country Splash experience — not an afterthought. Our on-site safety measures include:

  • Trained security personnel at all festival entrances and throughout the grounds
  • On-site medical team available throughout the event
  • Coordination with local emergency services
  • Designated Guest Services locations on the festival map

Our staff is trained to handle a wide range of situations, and our concierge team is available at all times during the festival weekend. If you ever feel unsafe, find the nearest Country Splash staff member or Guest Services location immediately.

When you arrive at Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), you’ll go through Mexican immigration and customs. Here’s what to expect:

  • You’ll fill out a customs declaration form on the plane or digitally via the VisitMex app before arrival
  • Declare any goods, cash over $10,000 USD, or restricted items
  • After collecting your luggage, you’ll press a button at customs — a green light means you’re free to go, a red light means a brief inspection
  • Mexico limits the value of goods you can bring in duty-free to approximately $500 USD per person for air arrivals

The process is straightforward for most travelers. Simply be honest on your declaration form and the entry process is quick.

No — US citizens do not need a visa to enter Mexico for tourism purposes. You will need your valid passport and will receive a tourist permit upon entry. Your stay as a tourist is authorized for up to 180 days.

Fly into Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), also known as San José del Cabo International Airport. It’s the main international airport serving Cabo San Lucas and is served by major US airlines with direct flights from dozens of US cities. Do not book flights to La Paz (LAP) — that airport is several hours away and is not the right airport for Country Splash.

Our standard refund policy applies regardless of travel advisories. Refunds are not automatically issued due to a change in advisory level. However, we understand that safety concerns are real and we take them seriously. If you have concerns about traveling to Cabo San Lucas, please reach out to our team at support@countrysplash.com so we can share the most current information about conditions and our on-site safety measures.

We strongly recommend purchasing travel protection at the time of booking, which may cover trip cancellation due to travel advisories depending on the protection plan chosen.

Tipping is customary and appreciated throughout Mexico. General guidelines:

  • Restaurants: 10–15% of the bill is standard. 18–20% for excellent service.
  • Hotel staff (housekeeping, bellhops): 20–50 pesos per service is appreciated
  • Private villa staff (chef, housekeeper): Tips are greatly appreciated — 15–20% of the service value is a good benchmark for exceptional service over a multi-day stay
  • Taxi / transportation: 10–15% is appreciated
  • Festival staff: Tips are not expected but always welcome for exceptional service

Tipping in US dollars is perfectly acceptable and appreciated throughout Cabo.

Cabo in September is warm — average highs around 90°F/32°C with high humidity. Here’s what we recommend:

  • Sunscreen — SPF 50 or higher. Apply early and reapply often. The Cabo sun is no joke.
  • Sunglasses and a hat — Essential for daytime sets
  • Light, breathable clothing — Linen, cotton, moisture-wicking fabrics are your friends
  • Comfortable footwear — You’ll be on your feet for hours. Sandals are fine; consider sneakers for evening
  • A small crossbody bag — Meets most bag policy requirements and keeps your hands free
  • Portable phone charger — Keeps you connected between sets
  • Reusable water bottle — Stay hydrated; heat and dancing are a combination that demands water
  • Any prescription medications in original labeled containers

Copies of your passport and travel documents — Keep digital copies in your email and physical copies separate from the originals

September in Cabo San Lucas is the tail end of the summer season — warm, humid, and predominantly sunny. Expect daytime highs around  approx 88–93°F / 31–34°C with overnight lows around approx 75–80°F / 24–27°C. Country Splash is a rain-or-shine event. We recommend checking the forecast in the week leading up to your trip and packing a light layer for evening shows on the beach.
